Welcome to BEYOND THE CRADLE, a blog born with one quest in its genetic code, fight the good fight of promoting space exploration efforts worldwide.
BEYOND THE CRADLE is the natural successor of spacEurope, a place that I have never expected to grow so fast.
I must be sincere, I never thought that spacEurope would develop in such a way that, two years after being created, I would be able to look back all the people who were part of it, all the people who helped bulding it, turning that simple blog into a place respected and recognized as a source of reliable information and working as a bridge between those who make things happen and the general public.
It was a great adventure, full of work but, more importantly, a true work of passion and admiration for the women and men who, by dreaming, questioning, building and launching us towards higher grounds of knowledge.
Events like spacEurope’s live Q’nA’, audio talks with astronauts and the special coverage of special events, I recall Phoenix, Jules Verne, Messenger and so many others, that have accomplished the mission for which I have created that specific blog: To learn and to share that knowledge with a wider audience.
Seing it turning into a place where people like Steve Squyres, Hans Schlegel, Alain Thirkettle, Peter Smith, Charles Elachi, felt comfortable to come in and say of their own justice, to be honest and not modest, it is a sign that we, me and the fantastic, indefatigable spacEurope team, were somehow, somewhere, doing a good job.
And if spacEurope was created on a 1.11 it sounded like a good omen to give the kick off for a new adventure on the 2.22…and on this day we’re also celebrating the 377th anniversary of Galileo’s Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems…fitting, the inquisition as an institution may be long gone for now but the most dangerous kind of inquisition, the one coming from within Man itself, still persists.
Every effort towards the direction of knowledge and the unveiling of the Universe’s mysteries is, more than valid, a human imperative. We are to help in every way we can on this pilgrimage for a more richer understanding of the wonders we, as a species driven by curiosity, are privileged to witness and question.
That is why we are here, at a new home, BEYOND THE CRADLE is, in spite of its different name and adress, spacEurope out of the cocoon, ready to fly in a whole set of different directions, with more responsibility and ambition but with that same good old passion.
Get ready for the ride, BTC has a renewed crew, full of enthusiasm and the will to share with you information and new perspectives on what is being done on the space exploration realm as we speak and on the future ahead.
BTC is here with a renewed mission, to assume its role as a character in this vital endeavor, as a voice to be heard next to the general public, raising its awareness towards this common adventure, towards this shared quest, we are here to help promoting space exploration, we are here to help building the road ahead, the one leading us beyond Earth, beyond the cradle.
